Many thanks to the staff of the Center for Multicultural Wellness & Prevention, Inc. (CMWP), board members, volunteers, supporters and sponsors for your support and assistance in making the 9th Annual Caribbean Health Summit a huge success. The event provided Orlando Eligible Metropolitan Area (EMA) minority community and Caribbean’s of all ages, access to free screenings and information relating to personal health and well-being. As in past years, we provided free mammograms, prostate specific antigen (PSA), DRE, pap smears, blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose, BMI (Body Mass Index), HIV, syphilis and eye screenings to more than a thousand people. Preliminary numbers show us that we were able to increase the number of people screened this year compared to last year.

 

The Caribbean Health Summit has had a significant impact on the health and well-being of Central Florida’s communities over the past nine years.  Through these free screenings, many abnormal results have been uncovered and many lives have been saved in the process. We intend to continue providing these free screenings to the uninsured and the underinsured in Central Florida.

 

Plans are in place for this year’s event, which will take place on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at the Central Florida Fairgrounds, Orlando. Keep checking back for updates and more information as the date draws near. Again, we thank everyone for their support and look forward to serving more people during this year’s event.
