Ryan White Title I- PEER
MENTORING PROGRAM
The Peer Mentoring Program
under Orange County Ryan White Title I funding, provides non-licensed
counseling to individuals and groups, infected or affected by the HIV virus,
their family, and/or friends.
Peer Mentors provide:
1. Education to navigate the system, access medical care, case management, financial planning, employment, daily living, emotional support, and transmission risk reduction.
2. Coordinate care as
appropriate with collateral service Providers/service systems to ensure
optimal consumer care.
3. Comprehensive community resource network of related health and social
services organizations to ensure a wide-based knowledge of the availability
of both HIV/AIDS services and basic services such as food, shelter, and
clothing services, and facilitate referral.
4. Promote autonomy and informed participation in care.
